A Tradition of Quality

Okemos Public Schools have an extraordinary track record for high quality education. The Okemos Public Montessori classrooms, while differing in method than a traditional classroom, are no different in their goal for excellence in education.

Mission Statement

Together, Okemos Public Montessori...

...educates with excellence, respects each individual, and inspires learners for life who become contributing members of society.

Okemos Public Montessori benefits from all the established programs, resources, and community support within Okemos Public Schools. The Okemos Public Montessori education includes state-of-the art computer labs, music, art, gym, excellent library resources, school-wide assemblies and activities, large playgrounds, and numerous extra-curricular athletic activities and clubs.

There is no tuition for elementary-age students at Okemos Public Montessori.

Quite simply, Okemos Public Montessori provides the "best" of both worlds- the vision, skills, and independence as provided by the Montessori Method, and the high standards, accountability, and resources of Okemos Public Schools!

"We do not believe in the educative power of words and commands alone, but seek cautiously, and almost without the child's knowing it, to guide his natural activity."
 - Dr. Maria Montessori
