New Student Dessert Information

Summer 2013

Dear New Student and Parents/Guardians:

It is with a great deal of pleasure that we welcome you to Okemos High School. It is our goal to present to you a high school experience that will allow you the opportunity to be challenged, to pursue your interests and to realize your potential. At Okemos High School, you will have the opportunity to work with an exceptionally dedicated and highly credentialed faculty and a student body that is motivated and serious, yet vibrant and positive.

As you move from one high school to another, there are many documents that must be forwarded to your new high school. Some of these documents are required by the State of Michigan to be on file before enrolling (see below). Each new registrant and parents/guardians will meet with the registrar to check that all pertinent documents are in our possession. Please call the main office at (517) 706-4900 to set up an appointment for August 19th or August 20th.

Click here for the high school registration packet.The following documents must be in our possession to register for classes for the 2013/2014 school year:

  • Certified Birth Certificate
  • Up-to-date Immunizations (including Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Varicella and Meningococcal)
    • If child has had chickenpox, please complete Varicella form
  • Proof of Residency in the Okemos School District (need two)
    • Complete Residency Verification Affidavit
  • Completed OHS Registration Form
  • Request for Records Form with address of previous school indicated
  • Withdrawal form from previous school attended

Also helpful in the scheduling process: Cumulative High School Transcript and the schedule of classes your son/daughter would have taken if not changing schools.

It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to provide Okemos High School with the above documents, not the responsibility of the sending school. Other documents can be transferred to us from your previous school through transfer of records. You may release those records to us as you leave your current school, which is preferable, or we will request those records upon your enrollment. However, the documents listed above MUST be checked and be in our possession BEFORE your son or daughter can register for classes.  Additional information is provided in the enrollment packet concerning OHS Athletics and New Family Dessert Night.
