![]() The OHS Someko Singers is a select group of 20-24 juniors and seniors chosen for their aptitude and achievement in vocal music. Each year, they present approximately thirty concerts in service to their school and community. They have performed in Washington, D.C., New York City, and at invitational choral festivals throughout Michigan. In 1995 and 1998 they sang at the Midwestern Music Conference in Ann Arbor and in 1996 they performed for the American Choral Directors Association convention in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2001, they sang John Rutter's "Requiem" on the stage of Carnegie Hall under the direction of the composer. Their diverse activities have ranged from singing the National Anthem at Tiger Stadium to performing incidental music for the Boarshead Theatre. The groups has been chosen as a finalist in Michigan School Vocal Music Association Solo & Ensemble festivals. In October, 2009, the group will perform at the American Choral Directors' Association Michigan conference. Individually, the singers (50% of whom study voice privately) have won numerous honors, competitions and scholarships. |
