SECRETS OF TRUTH AND BEAUTY by Megan Frazer

Seventeen-year-old Dara was Miss Maine as a child—but most people would never guess it because she’s gained a little weight since then. One day at school, she’s mortified when people start asking her about being Miss Maine—and she becomes furious that people think thinness and beauty are so important. This anger causes Dara to go and live with her estranged sister, where she meets new friends who help her challenge the perception that body size and beauty define identity.

I enjoyed this book because I can relate to Dara's frustration; our society does tend to value thinness over other traits. I imagine that many girls age 14-16 can relate and would probably like this book, too.
June 2nd 2010 “Intertwined” by Gena Showalter.
Aden Stone, a sixteen year old guy. He is not, nor has he ever been what anyone would call normal. He was born with 4 ‘souls’ in his head. They all have different “abilities” one can time travel, another can tell the future, one can raise the dead and the last one can possess another person’s body. Aden meets a girl named, Mary Ann and she knew the moment she saw him he was different. There meeting disturbed all of the “immortal” and “Magical” worlds. Aden and MaryAnn have to fight alongside a were-wolf and vampire to save not just their lives but their worlds lives.

I really enjoyed this book, “Intertwined.” This book has action, drama, romance, friendship, and adventure. It also has life lessons. I recommend this book for anyone; boys and girls from ages 13 to 100. This is an amazing story that keeps you turning the page. I didn’t want to set the book down. It also has an ending that could keep you thinking about possibilities of what could happen next.

This is definitely a book I recommend and could read again and again.
THE COLOUR OF MAGIC by Terry Pratchett

There a place called discworld, in space atop a giant turtle. The Great A'Tuin, (the turtle) has four elephants on its back helping carry the weight of discworld (even though it would not help one bit). But deep down on discworld, a tourist is visiting a city, and this tourist wants to see all the sights this town could show, but it’s all too dangerous for a small tourist like himself. So the really tiny tourist hires a body guard. As the two explore the land, they encounter new friends, new enemies, and lots, lots, and lots of problems.’

Terry Pratchett is an amazing author, mainly pulling in people’s attention with his comedic writing style. In order to understand the whole concept of discworld you need to forget everything you know and have ever learned about this clever planet we know and love, earth. The book can get quite confusing at times so I would recommend the book for anyone in 8th grade or higher.
P.S… if you got confused on this… ohh! You are in for it!

He does not remember anything from the accident when he wakes up several days later with a shattered leg in a hospital bed. All he knows is that he has a shattered leg and was in a car accident with his grandpa. Will he ever remember what happened or go on living his life being confused about that one day?

I loved this book. I would recommend this to any teenagers that want a good read. This is a page turner and it makes you never want to stop. It grabs the user’s attention by relating to them. It related to me in so many ways and it will relate to most teens. I find that this book will entertain almost anyone for hours.

But, his servant and princess’ secret friend, Fabrizio have to prove the existence of ghosts. Fabrizio wants to be a magician. He can’t do it but, he practiced metaphysical and physical intrigue in secret. In addition, following a call received by Mangus and Fabrizio, the king wants to save his daughter, and he wants Mangus to stop the ghost that is bullying the princess.

I think this book is very good, because the setting is very good. I can recommend it to a person who likes mysterious stories and characters who solve the mystery, and also to a person who likes ghost or spirit stories."

Karen people are threatened unfairly by Burmese soldiers. Burmese soldiers destroyed Karen people’s home, killed people and arrested them.
